British Airways scraps hundreds more flights until summer

01/11/2022

BRITISH Airways has scrapped three more flight routes from its schedule until summer.

Flights from Heathrow to Nashville, Baltimore and New Orleans in the US have all been slashed from the airline's winter schedule.

The cancellations are a result of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic which has caused a decline in the demand for air travel.

Flights to the three destinations only returned at the end of last year when the US travel ban was lifted after almost two years.

However, less than two months on, all three flight routes are to be suspened within the next week – with hundreds of journeys cancelled.

A spokesman for BA said: "Like other airlines, due to the continuing coronavirus pandemic we are operating a reduced and dynamic schedule.

"We apologise to customers whose travel plans are disrupted. Where a customer's flight is cancelled, we always contact them to offer options including a full refund.

"Customers who are unable to travel, or choose not to, can also continue to change their flights or request a voucher for future use as part of our Book with Confidence policy, which has been available since the beginning of the pandemic."

Thankfully, all three routes will return later in the year.

Flights to New Orleans will return on April 26, to Baltimore on May 2 and to Nashville on May 9, according to aviation website Simple Flying.

BA previously announced it was slashing more than 2,000 flights from its schedule until March.

And it is not the only airline that has cancelled flights in the coming weeks and months.

Virgin Atlantic has been forced to cancel all flights from London to Hong Kong due to continued travel restrictions.

All routed from Heathrow to the city have been suspended until February 7.

Ryanair has scrapped a third of its flights in January because of Omicron and travel restrictions across Europe.

The budget airline has also cancelled all flights to and from Morocco until February 1, amid "a lack of clarity" from the country about entry for Brits.
