Chessington World of Adventures’ Howl’o’ween event will take over the Surrey park from 16 October until 31 October with fun characters creating a creepy atmosphere and the return of its award-winning scare maze.

All around the resort the Wild Witches of Adventure Point will be popping up to cast spells and bring creepy creatures to life.

Over in the Forbidden Kingdom zone, the ancient Egyptian crocodile god Sobek will be providing surprise frights to guests around Chessington’s newest ride Croc Drop.

The Creepy Caves: Resurgence scare maze takes centre stage as the park’s main spooky attraction, while for younger families, the Forgotten Forest trail leads guests into the magical woods.

There are also live performances from the Wilf the Werewolf and the Wild Witches of Adventure Point every day on the mini stage.

Up at Pirate’s Cove, visitors will be entertained by lost captain the Black Buccaneer, while around the Vampire Ride the terrifying resident Vampire Villagers are sure to put in an appearance.

Chessington’s Zoo is putting on a series of scary experiences too, with the seasonal Pumpkin Chomp and Stomp enrichment activities for the animals, and the chance to get hands on with creepy crawlies and snakes.

Tickets start from £37pp, with free admission for kids under three years.

Families can book overnight stays at the park’s two themed hotels across Halloween and the October half term break with prices from £372, based on a family of four sharing a standard room.

Alternatively, overnight stays close by at the Premier Inn Chessington are from £50.50 in a standard room for a family of four.

At Alton Towers in Staffordshire, visitors can expect even more Halloween fun for the theme park’s special Scarefest, kicking off from 8-10 October before returning from 15 October until Halloween on 31 October.

Alongside new family attraction Trick O’Treat Town, visitors can explore a whole host of freaky mazes including the Darkest Depths ghost ship and Altonville Mine Tours: Uncover the Legend of the Skin Snatchers.

Creepy clowns haunt the Freak Show: Toxic Junkyard labyrinth, while the Dead Governess provides extra frights in The Attic: Terror of the Towers.

Like all places the park is scariest after dark, so the gates will be open until 9pm so guests can experience its attractions at night.

Families looking for a cheap stopover close to the resort can find standard family rooms at Travelodge Stafford M6 for £54.99 during the school holidays.

Lord Vampyre’s very own Haunted House Monster Party ride will be open for families to enjoy, plus there will be fancy dress competitions and special Halloween-themed Lego models popping up around the resort.

Brick or Treat tickets cost £39 per person and for spooky overnight stays, the Windsor theme park is extending the Halloween theme to its on-site Castle Hotel, with family packages from £341 per night.

Affordable stays in nearby Windsor include family rooms at Travelodge Windsor Central from £49.99 per night.
