Plane passenger warning – travel expert tells Brits to leave their luggage at HOME when travelling

A TRAVEL expert has warned passengers not to travel with checked in luggage amid the flight chaos.

Thousands of holidays have been ruined by delayed and cancelled flights, as well as huge queues at airports across the UK.

Which? editor Rory Boland has explained that many bags are going missing from flights at the moment as well.

He wrote: "If you can, at the moment, try not to check a bag. Lots are going missing.

"If you are checking a bag, make sure medication, keys, insurance documents and a change of clothes are in your carry on."

He added: "Just heard from a passenger whose bag has been lost including their house keys."

One Twitter user agreed, saying: "Wise words. My bag was delivered late on two out of my last three trips."

Other people shared their own advice, such as putting Apple's AirTags on their bags so they could track them.

Many passengers have complained that they didn't receive their luggage back after returning from their holidays.

Laurie Nathaniel had been flying back from Santorini to Gatwick when her flight was diverted to Luton because of a lack of fuel on the EasyJet flight.

She said: “We got home today in the early hours of the morning. Our luggage still hasn't arrived after they said it would be sent here.

“The airline just doesn't sound like it knows what it is doing. My glasses and contact lenses were in too so I can't see anything – so I have had to miss work today. It's a shambles."

Dawn Brian, from Stoke-on-trent, said landing in Manchester was utter chaos, adding:"There were bags everywhere that had just been left abandoned from other flights.

“Someone said their house keys were in there and they couldn’t get into their house without them."

One woman had to fork out £700 on emergency holiday supplies after her airline lost her suitcase.

And another woman was left without her vital medication for NINE days after Ryanair lost her suitcase.

While it may be tempting to head straight for home after landing at the airport, you should make sure to check your suitcase first.
