Azores holiday deals from £215pp – as the Portuguese islands are added to the green list

THE Portuguese islands of the Azores have been given the go ahead for quarantine-free travel in a major holiday boost for Brits.

Seven more destinations were added to the green travel list yesterday, with the changes to come into effect from Monday.

The announcement opens up potential quarantine-free getaways to the sunny Azores, with Brits travelling to green list countries just needing to get a negative test before they return to the UK and a PCR test two days after returning.

With its black beaches, hot springs and isolated spot in the Atlantic, the nine volcanic islands of the Azores make you feel as though you’ve stepped on to a movie set.

Many people are lured to the Azores for whale watching and the marine life around the islands and is often dubbed the Hawaii of Europe.

Thankfully, it doesn’t come with a long-haul flight and pricey plane tickets either.

At the Pico do Ferro viewpoint you can gaze down at geysers and a spectacular crater lake.

It costs just five euros to walk down tree-lined avenues in the botanical gardens, and you can see grottoes and beautiful wildlife from all over the world.

Along with the Azores, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Lithuania, Switzerland and Liechtenstein were also added to the green list for quarantine-free travel.
