Woman slams daughter-in-law for breastfeeding ‘naked’ but people say she’s wrong

A new mum has posted a rant online after her mother-in-law burst into tears upon seeing her in her pyjamas.

The shocked mum, who gave birth to her youngest just two weeks ago, needed to get the bizarre situation off her chest.

Posting to the r/JUSTNOMIL sub-forum on Reddit, she titled the post: “My mother-in-law broke down because I wore PJs when she came to visit.”

Apparently, her husband’s mum called her at 8am on Sunday to tell her she would be visiting at 1pm.

The new mum had a bath and dressed herself and the kids in clean pyjamas.

She claimed she couldn’t wear anything else because nothing fit properly after her pregnancy.

The anonymous woman said: “Now in the two weeks since I gave birth the house hasn't been the cleanest because my husband has been running after the kids while ordering take out for nearly every meal.

“I shoved the kids in one room watching a movie, took a bath and changed into a black and red fluffy pyjama set because that's all the fits me properly at the moment.

“I put my kids in fresh pyjamas because they aren't going anywhere so no point in dirtying clothes and giving my husband more laundry to do for a visit.”

The kids were given a cardboard castle to play with in the living room while mum cuddled the baby on the couch awaiting her mother-in-laws arrival.

When she didn’t turn up on time, the new mum assumed she wasn’t coming.

She said: “My mother-in-law (MIL) didn't turn up till around 2pm (an hour late) and I was in the living room, shirt off, breastfeeding my baby when my MIL and StepFIL [father-in-law] came in the backdoor.

“My StepFIL made a comment about how I shouldn't be publicly breastfeeding ‘naked’ and sniggered at my rebuttal that I was topless feeding in my own living room.

“My MIL agreed with him and asked me to leave the room.”

She continued: “My husband made them wait in the kitchen.

“Once the baby was fed I put my top on and set him in his downstairs crib for a nap.

“MIL walked back into the living room hugged the kids then sat on the couch.

“She took one look at me, sank to her knees and started fake hysterically crying because I wasn't dressed in normal clothes and she was embarrassed for me.

“She then started saying that my StepFIL wouldn't want to see that either and how he was having a bad day as it is.”

The anonymous mum’s husband kicked his parents out and told them to “grow up” and apologise.

The poster added: “I feel like it is my fault because I gave her ammunition to kick off but I really don't know.

“She's been texting me ever since asking why I want her son to abandon her.

“She also said the kids quietly playing in the corner with teddy bears in a cardboard castle was toys everywhere and we were unsafely raising them in a mess.”

Reddit users were astounded by the mother-in-law's behaviour.

One person said: “They should have been kicked out after the comment about you breastfeeding. People are insane.”

“Honestly if I'm visiting anyone two weeks after their baby is born, I would be surprised if they were in anything other than pyjamas,” added another.

A third wrote: “Wow, the entitlement on the part of your in-laws is truly astounding.

“They have the audacity to invite themselves over to your home with virtually no warning while you’re actively recovering from delivering your child, show up an hour late after you and your husband have rushed to make the place presentable, and then they have the gall to berate you for breastfeeding your child in your own home, and request that you leave the room?

“The pyjama issue is just icing on the crazy cake.”
