Prime Minister’s wife Carrie couldn’t resist sharing it yesterday – after Boris revealed their new bundle of joy is called Romy. He spilled the beans about his daughter’s name when he spoke to a woman with a baby during a visit to a vaccination centre. Carrie, who gave birth last week at University College London Hospital, later posted the family snap online and revealed their little girl’s full name is Romy Iris Charlotte Johnson.

She also explained Romy was after her aunt Rosemary, Charlotte was in honour of Boris’s mum, who died in September, and Iris is from the Greek for rainbow.

This could be a reference to the Carrie’s miscarriage, as children born afterwards are known as rainbow babies.

She wrote on Instagram: “Wilf has been stroking Romy’s hair, giving big kisses and playing with his matchbox cars right next to her crib, just in case she feels like joining in too.”

She added: “Thank you so much to the amazing maternity staff.”
