Prince Harry had a brief romance with a model after he met Meghan Markle , it has been claimed.

The Duke of Sussex and the former Burberry model Sarah Ann Macklin crossed paths at a party and hit it off, Angela Levin writes in her book 'Harry: Conversations with the Prince'.

Harry bombarded Sarah with texts after their meeting but wouldn't commit, the royal author claims.

Ms Levin told The Express : “During the very early stages of his relationship with Meghan, Harry was thought to have gone on dates with Burberry model Sarah Ann Macklin.

“They met at a private party, he took her number and bombarded her with texts.

“But it turned out to be just a fling."

According to a friend of the model they got on but were "quite different", with clean-living Sarah not too big a drinker.

In the years since modelling for publications including Vogue and Harper's Bazaar, Sarah has carved a successful career for herself as a nutritionist.

Armed with a two year HND in human nutrition from Oxford College she began practising at London's exclusive ROC Harley Street Clinic.

She has been described by Marie Claire as “the Jamie Oliver of nutrition” and The Rake magazine named her their 2017 Woman of the Year.

The now Duke and Duchess of Sussex met on a blind date set up by a mutual friend.

They began dating in proper in June 2016, making their first pubic appearance together at the Invictus Games in Toronto in September 2017.

Their engagement was announced just two months later.
