Rise of the ‘bumpsuit’! Figure-hugging maternity one piece with no seams for ultimate pregnancy comfort proves a hit thanks to famous fans including Helen Flanagan and Kelly Rowland (but how do you go to the loo?)

  • Fashion bloggers and celebrities have been spotted wearing the ‘bumpsuit’
  • A jumpsuit for pregnant women, the close-fitting outfits have been seen on stars including Helen Flanagan, Kelly Rowland and Georgia Kousoulou
  • Coronation Street actress Flanagan, 30, who’s heavily pregnant with her third child, sported a $155 (£111) all-in-one black long-sleeved bumpsuit this week
  • Praised for its comfort without seams or bands that dig in, some have pondered exactly how you go to the toilet, wearing one though

A close-fitting all-in-one version of the jumpsuit for pregnant women is proving a fashion huge hit, after a host of expectant stars shared photos of themselves wearing one.

Dubbed ‘the bumpsuit’, and made by a brand of the same name, the ‘spray on’ maternity wear has been seen in Instagram snaps of stars including Helen Flanagan, Kelly Rowland and Georgia Kousoulou.

Its makers claim that wearing ‘just one continuous base layer with no bands or seams that dig in’ is the key to the garment’s increasing popularity – although, with a zipper at the back, some have questioned how easy it is to go to the loo in.

This week, Coronation Street actress Flanagan, 30, who’s heavily pregnant with her third child, shared photos of herself wearing a black long-sleeved version, showing off her bump in its full glory.

The Penelope version of the Bumpsuit, similar to the one worn by the actress, retails at $155 (£111).

Other versions of the clingy attire, many with celebrity names including The Gigi, The Bianca and The Cindy, include dresses, sleeveless bodysuits and halter-neck all-in-ones.

The reality television celebrity, 29, who is expecting her first child with her long-term boyfriend and co-star Tommy Mallett, was seen cradling her blooming bump while striking a pose for the camera.

Celebrity stylist Rachel Gold told FEMAIL while the bumpsuit screams of happy pregnancy vibes, she’d question the practicalities of wearing one considering pregnancy puts huge pressure on the bladder.

‘The bumpsuit is a celebration of a super happy event, and you can style it in lots of different ways, including with a short jacket or a gorgeous wrap.

‘One question though, do you have to take the entire thing of to pop to the loo?’
