Sainsbury’s issue urgent food recall over allergy fears – check affected product here

Sainsbury’s have issued the urgent food recall on an own-brand item due to incorrect labelling. The supermarket giant is recalling the Sainsbury’s 18 Mini Egg Bites because they contain egg and mustard which are not outlined on the label.

Writing in their recall notice, Sainsbury’s said: “It has been brought to our attention that some packs of by Sainsbury’s 18 Mini Egg Bites have the incorrect back label which means that egg, mustard and pork are not declared on the ingredients list.

“As a precautionary measure, we are asking customers who have purchased this product from Sainsbury’s to return the product to their nearest Sainsbsbury’s where they will receive a full refund.

“No other Sainsbury’s products have been affected by this issue, and we would like to apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.”

The Sainsbury’s 18 Mini Egg Bites have a product number of 7563390 and a use by date of 17th December.

The FSA advised: “If you have bought the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to egg, and/or an allergy to mustard do not eat it. Instead return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.”

This is not the only recall alert out at the moment. Parents are being urged to return an infant milk pack due to incorrect product labelling.

Hips UK is recalling Hipp Organic Combiotic First Infant Milk Starter Pack, 6x90ml size, because some packs do not mention the presence of fish oil on the outer box, due to a packaging error.

This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to fish.

Batch codes L-099191; L-162192; L-186191 are affected.

Best before dates to look out for are 09 January 2020, 11 March 2020, and 5 April 2020.

Writing on their recall notice, the company said: “We have discovered due to a packaging error there is a small risk of some boxes not having the correct allergy information on the cardboard box, although the presence of fish oil is declared on the inner 90ml bottles.

“The product itself is perfectly safe and meets all nutritional and compositional requirements.

“As a precautionary measure, we are recalling Hipp Organic First infant milk starter pack 6x90ml.”
