Strictly Come Dancing has become notorious for making and breaking the love lives of celebrities over the 15 years its been on our screens.

The Strictly 'curse' is synonymous with the BBC dancing competition that has seen several professionals and celebrities get together while spending hours in the training room learning how to dance.

The very first series back in 2004 was mired with controversy when it was alleged Brendan Cole and Natasha Kaplinsky had a fling when they were paired together, which they denied.

Over a decade later and the 2019 series has gone relatively scandal-free with only rumours of a mystery couple enjoying a romance behind the scenes.

2004 – Brendan Cole and Natasha Kaplinsky

Brendan Cole and his longtime partner Camilla Dallerup split early on in the inaugural series.

News of the break-up didn't help rumours of a fling that swirled between the newly single professional and his newsreader dance partner Natasha Kaplinsky.

The pair always denied any romance with Brendan, who left Strictly following the 2017 series, saying he "didn’t cross any lines" with Natasha during their time on the series.

2007/2010 – Flavia Cacace, Vincent Simone, Matt Di Angelo and Jimi Mistry

Professional dancer Flavia Cacace had her first encounter with the 'curse' back in 2007 after she split with her long-time boyfriend and dance partner Vincent Simone.

Following their split she embarked upon a romance with EastEnders actor Matt Di Angelo who she had been paired with.

After three years together the raven-haired dancer split with Matt, and in the 2010 series found love with another EastEnders actor Jimi Mistry.

The pair went on to get married in 2013 and have been together ever since. But Flavia worried about the reaction to her falling for two of her partners: "I couldn’t believe it. I thought, ‘Oh God, please no!' But we couldn’t help it. It was fate.”

2009 – Brian Fortuna and Ali Bastian

Cast your minds back to the 2009 series where Ricky Whittle, Natalie Cassidy, Ali Bastian and Chris Hollins fought it out for the Glitterball Trophy.

Ali was partnered with the relatively new pro Brian Fortuna, and as they made their way to the semi-final the couple found love on the dance floor.

However, a year later and their relationship had fizzled out. Ali is now married and expecting her first child.
