Have we been eating hotdogs wrong this whole time?

TikTok is known for a great many things – dance challenges, funny videos, musicals – but the platform’s ‘life hacks’ are also a big selling point.

Some of these so-called ‘hacks’ don’t work, but many do and leave viewers shocked at how everyday activities take on a completely new perspective.

The latest TikTok hack has us asking if we been eating hotdogs wrong this whole time?

You might think that hotdogs were pretty straightforward, so there’s no way we have been eating them ‘wrong’. But maybe we have.

British TikTokker Sheena Marie has shared a genius new way to eat a hotdog that stops you from spilling ketchup and mustard when you take a bite.

The video, which has over 2.1 million views, is captioned with: ‘No more messy ketchup and mustard on your lips #lifehacks’.

In the video, Sheena says: ‘Show me the life hack that you saw one day that is now an unconscious standard practice in your life, I’ll go first.’

She then squeezes ketchup and mustard onto her hotdog before, wait for it, rotating the sausage so the sauce is on the bottom of the bun and the top of the sausage is completely clear of ketchup and mustard (or any other condiments).

This hack means that when you eat your hotdog the sauces will be prevented from dripping by the bun, and you will be able to eat a hot dog in peace without worrying about the mess.

Though some users were confused by the so-called ‘hack’, as the issue could be solved by simply putting the condiments on before the sausage, others were impressed with Sheena’s clever take on this often annoying hotdog-related problem.

However, ketchup and mustard are not the only condiments to be put on a hotdog, especially in places like New York or Copenhagen, where hotdogs are a staple and include crispy onions, raw onions, gherkins, and a whole lot more piled on top.

These loose toppings could make the rotating sausage trick a bit trickier.

Let’s hope Sheena will come out with more hacks in the future for those hotdog variations too, or else we’re doomed.
