HOW much do you spend a year on groceries?

Determined to find out how much cash she'd shelled out on food and drink, one woman kept all her receipts from the last 12 months to work out the total.

The woman, who posts on the TwoBiteTalks account on TikTok, explained: "In my hand I hold the amount of money my boyfriend and I spent on groceries in an entire year.

"This is every single receipt.

"I haven’t tallied it up yet but I’m about to, and I want you guys to guess how much you think we spent on groceries in a year.

"To give you context, it’s just the two of us that we’re feeding, we live in Vancouver, Canada, I’m 25 years old, we’re both vegan and I’m also gluten free.

She also insisted the tally would just include groceries – not what they'd spent on going out for dinner and drinks.

People quickly flocked to the comments section to take a guess at the total, with estimations ranging from $6,000 (£4,817) to $50,000 (£40,148).

After sharing a video of herself and her boyfriend tallying up the receipts, the woman posted another clip to reveal the total.
