‘Bachelorette’s Chris Harrison on why Hannah, Luke ‘just can’t get away from each other’

Spoiler alert! The following contains details from Monday, June 17’s episode of “The Bachelorette.” Read our recap here.

Now we know: Luke P. is sticking around for the foreseeable future on “The Bachelorette” − and so is all his drama.

“Their bond is just tighter than everybody can tell,” host Chris Harrison told USA TODAY in a recent interview teasing Monday’s episode and the rest of the season. “They just can’t get away from each other.”

It’s not just their faith or religion that brings them together, but their physical chemistry, too. “It’s like a boomerang,” Harrison says. “As much as they try to throw each other away, they just come back to each other.”

But wait there’s more: ‘Bachelorette’ host Chris Harrison: ‘We can’t get traction this season’

He says that the drama has been fascinating to watch − though we’d contend it’s more exhausting − because like a friend would, we can all see this thing and where it’s going.

However: “We also know from experience in our lives that you can’t save people from themselves in these situations,” he says. “You’ve gotta let it run its course.”

Harrison advised Hannah that Bachelor Nation would be lighting up social media about the situation, but told her that she would figure it out.

And while he wasn’t necessarily surprised she kept Luke on, Harrison says he grew concerned for her as a result of talking with her in Latvia.

It’s official! ‘Bachelor in Paradise’ alums Krystal Nielson and Chris Randone are married

“Can I just have one cocktail party that doesn’t go to crap by the end?” she asks Harrison during the episode. Hannah confides in him that she hasn’t felt like these men are ready to know exactly who she is yet. She’s trying to not give up, but feels like she’s kind of flailing.

“I just don’t want to give my heart to anybody that doesn’t deserve it, too,” she tells Harrison.

“She really bottomed out emotionally,” Harrison told USA TODAY. “I was a little bit worried about her at that point.”

What’s coming up on the rest of Hannah’s ‘Bachelorette’ season

What has driven the storyline and relationship with Luke P. is his conservative values, Harrison says. His religion is something the two bond over, but their faith will also come to a head and could cause the biggest issue between them.

As much as religion should bring people together, Harrison reminds us “it’s the cause of the greatest wars in the history of the world.”

“Perspective in religion is really everything, and it will be a big sticking point between them,” he adds. “This thing is going to continue to play out, and so you just gotta go on this wild ride with them.”

And play out it will. The tease for the rest of the season shown at the end of Monday’s episode suggests heated conversation surrounding sex.

“You see her speaking very strongly about her choices, her body, her life, her decisions,” Harrison says. “Just when you think that Hannah might be beaten or might be down, trust me, she’ll stand up for herself, and I love that about her.”

“The Bachelorette” airs Mondays (8 EST/PST) on ABC.
