'Proudest moment of our lives' – Westlife's Mark Feehily and his fiancé Cailean O’Neil are expecting a baby

WESTLIFE’S Mark Feehily will become a father for the first time later this year.

The chart-topping singer announced the happy news this afternoon on the same day that he celebrates his 39th birthday. 

He said that expecting a new arrival with fiancé Cailean O’Neil makes today “my most special birthday EVER” and he also shared a scan of their unborn baby. 

“Later this year, we will become dads for the first time. This is the proudest moment of our lives and we are beyond excited to say it out loud!” he said. 

He has been inundated with messages of congratulations and well-wishes after posting his happy news on his Instagram page this afternoon. 

It comes after he and his bandmates played five sell-out gigs in Belfast’s SSE Arena ahead of taking to the stage in Glasgow tonight as part of their Twenty Tour. 

He only went public with his other half six months ago and has kept the relationship tightly under wraps until recently. 

Just last week, he expressed his desire to become a dad before he turned 40 and described himself as being massively broody. 

“I am much happier now than I was at at 20. It is all good and well and good being young but I am happier and more settled, so I am in the best place I have ever been,” he told Extra.ie. 

“It is a very comfortable feeling. Things are getting better the older I get.

“I think people always associate getting older as a negative but I am enjoying it.”

He said that he couldn’t wait to turn 40 and wanted to mark the milestone birthday as the “happiest man in the world with a family.”

“I would love to have my own kids running around one day,” he said.

“Listen, that is absolutely a dream for me when it happens. I say when it happens because it will happen. It is absolutely the next step. Everything is exciting.”

He said that for the first time in his life, his professional and personal life are both going great and it is the “perfect harmony” for him.
