Prince’s Former Bodyguard Questioned In Wrongful Death Lawsuit

06/01/2019

Prince‘s former bodyguard Kirk Johnson was questioned for seven hours Wednesday by lawyers involved in a wrongful death lawsuit filed by relatives of the late musician.

KSTP-TV quoted Johnson’s attorney Clayton Tyler as saying that Wednesday’s deposition was a traumatic event for his client.

“He feels very sad over the loss of a good friend of his. To have to come back and go through this and re-litigate this whole matter has been very difficult,” Tyler added.

The lawsuit alleges that Dr. Michael Schulenberg, who provided health care services to Prince, prescribed oxycodone to Johnson in the days before Prince’s death, knowing the drug would reach the singer. Schulenberg denies the allegation.

Prince died on April 21, 2016, shortly after he began writing his autobiography.

The artist was found dead at his Paisley Park estate in Chanhassen, Minnesota, apparently due to an opioid overdose.
