Olivia Newton-John, 73, has revealed in a new interview how homegrown cannabis is helping her manage her stage 4 cancer. The Grease star spoke to presenter Hoda Kotb on the Today show on Wednesday.

I’m winning over it well and that’s how I see it.

Hoda asked Olivia how she was doing after her most recent diagnosis in 2017.

She replied: “Yes, I’m doing good.

“I’m winning over it well and that’s how I see it.

“I don’t think about it a lot, to be honest.”

She added: “Denial is a really good thing and I’m getting stronger and better all the time! I’m doing well!”

Olivia and Hoda bonded over their shared experience with cancer, making each other feel very valued in their individual journeys.

She explained to Hoda that she has been managing her pain with media marijuana with the help of her husband, John Easterling.

The couple launched their Olivia Newton-John Foundation Fund in order to continue to support research into plant medicine for cancer.

Oliva said: “I have my days, I have my pains, but the cannabis that my husband grows for me has been such a huge part of my healing, and so I’m a really lucky person.”

Olivia was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer in 2017, nearly 30 years after her first diagnosis.

The cancer had metastasized to her lower back, with the back pains initially being misdiagnosed as sciatica.

The actress revealed her latest scare was actually her third bout with breast cancer, as she had privately battled a recurrence of the disease in 2013 in addition to her initial 1992 fight.

Due to this, Olivia often helps with many cancer charities, including in 2008 when she raised runs to help build the Olivia Newton John Cancer and Wellness Centre in Melbourne, Australia.

Olivia openly speaks about her use of cannabis oil to ease her pain, being a big advocate for medical marijuana.

In 1978, she starred in the musical film Grease with John Travolta, whose soundtrack remains one of the most successful in history.

Olivia also spoke to Hoda about the milestone 40th anniversary of her biggest and most enduring hit, Physical, the 1981 smash that hit number one around the globe.

The Grease star said: “Today the lyrics are like a lullaby, don’t you reckon?”

She also admitted that she recorded it without realising what its message was, and upon calling her manager to pull the track, she was told “it’s too late”.

Olivia added: “Very often the things you’re most afraid of are the things you really need to go for.”

Olivia also made a virtual appearance on the latest episode of Dancing with the Stars for Grease Night to provide intimate details on the inspirations behind the songs as the contestants performed them.
