Royals: They just wanna have fun.

In a new preview of the Duchess of Sussex’s interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, airing later today, Meghan revealed that she and Prince Harry went incognito at a postapocalyptic-themed Halloween party years ago.

“He came to see me in Toronto and our friends, his cousin Eugenie and now her husband, Jack, they came as well,” Meghan said, referring to Princess Eugenie and her now-husband, Jack Brooksbank. “The four of us snuck out in Halloween costumes to just have one fun night on the town before it was out in the world that we were a couple.”

How did the royals evade detection? “It was a post-apocalypse theme,” the duchess added. “So we had all of this very bizarre costuming on. And we were able to just sort of have one final fun night out.”

This past Halloween marks the first that the Sussexes are spending with their baby, Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, whom they welcomed in June.

DeGeneres, who is now a neighbor of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, recalled the occasion. “We kept saying this Halloween, ‘This is your chance. You can go out. You can get dressed up and actually go out,'” she said. “But y’all chose to stay home this year.”

Meghan replied, “We were home, and we saw you guys, which was great. But, no, we wanted to do something fun for the kids, and then the kids were just not into it at all. Archie was a dinosaur for maybe five minutes.”

The talk show host interjected, “No, not even five minutes. Finally, Harry talked him into putting the hat on. But Lili was a skunk.”

“Like Flower from Bambi,” the duchess added, referring to the animated skunk character from the 1942 Disney film.
