Derick Dillard is Getting Dragged for His Crooked Smile and Now We Even Feel Badly for Him

06/28/2019

We don’t always see eye-to-eye with Derick Dillard.

Correction: We almost never see eye-to-eye with Derick Dillard.

We really wish he didn’t hate gay people in the way that he does and his message to single people around the world isn’t exactly something that would ever cross our minds.

But still.

We do have to jump online now and state for the record that we do agree with Dillard on one semi-important issue:

Folks around the Internet should not mock others for their appearances and should avoid coming across as bullies at all times.

We make this statement in light of the abuse Dillard has been receiving in the wake of having his braces removed.

Earlier this week, Jill Duggar shared the above two photos of herself and her husband, out and above in celebration of their five-year anniversary.

“We had a wonderful 5yr. anniversary weekend in Branson, MO! We stayed at a bed and breakfast, then hung out at Silver Dollar City part of the time and saw our friends @southernraisedbandmusic perform,” wrote Jill as a caption to these snapshots.

They seem simple and romantic enough.

Certainly not cause for any sort of controversy, right?

WRONG!

Many observers quickly honed in on Derick’s smile and remarked that the braces he wore for a long time did not seem to achieve their purpose.

“All that time in braces and they couldn’t get his midline better than that?!” wrote one annoyed and very rude individual, while another added:

“I’m so confused why his teeth are moving sideways and are no longer in the midline!”

Acutely aware of all these insults online, Derick actually jumped into the Comments section and issued a rebuke.

Or an explanation, really, we suppose.

“The midline issues are from the surgery by accident,” he wrote, adding: “Nothing we can do about it now.”

For the record, Derick underwent orthodontic surgery in 2015 for a palatal expansion in order for his teeth to appropriately shift once he got braces.

He then rocked this toothwear for four years, but it seems his teeth still didn’t properly shift in the process.

We don’t feel too terribly for Derick Dillard because, for reasons cited above, he doesn’t seem to be a very good guy.

But we still think remarking on someone else’s looks is over social media is pretty mean and definitely lame.

In conclusion, though, in case you’re losing any sleep here over the treatment of Dillard, just keep the following in mind:

The guy totally got it on for his anniversary, red hot Kama Sutra style!
