You can now sleep in treehouses hidden in the jungle and they’re pretty amazing

Sleeping in a treehouse nestled in the heart of a dense green jungle sounds like the makings of a storybook – but it's very much a real offering in Bali.

That's because a new boutique hotel, The Lift, has opened in Penestanan near Ubud, where instead of hotel rooms guests sleep in impressive treehouses, with bedrooms nestled amidst the treetops.

But unlike the treehouses of our childhoods, you won't be roughing it with sleeping bags, snacks and torches.

Instead, each eco-friendly treehouse comes with a living room, dining room, bathroom and a spacious bedroom; all boasting incredible views of the jungle landscape, of course.

Oh and yes – there are large balconies where guests can relax and unwind, taking in the views or making the most of the peaceful surrounding.

  • Best beaches in Bali that are sure to give you serious wanderlust

  • Best temples in Bali that need to be on any explorer's radar

The hotel itself has heaps of opportunities for relaxing including a small sauna, a bar and a swimming pool that also makes for the perfect spot from which to take in the landscapes. (Alternatively, you can always hop into one of the many hammocks for a snooze in the shade during the hotter hours).

  • Tourists shocked to discover iconic Bali temple lake doesn't exist

There's even a yoga deck on stilts, so you can practise your downward dog without having to miss out on the incredible sunrises/sunsets.

Basically, it sounds like bliss.

The treehouses have been designed by the architects at Alexis Dornier, who chose to have the homes off the ground and on stilts in a bid to make for a less invasive footprint and smaller impact on the environment.

There are various treehouses on offer from single level structures to multi-level homes, depending on your group size and budget.

The Lift was built in September 2019, but there are already plans in the works to extend the resort further down to the nearby river.

Of course it's not the only incredible hotel Bali has to offer.

In fact, there are plenty of brilliant locations for intrepid explorers including one hotel which lets you play with puppies, as well as another stay where you can sleep in a bubble right by a private infinity pool.
