PASSENGERS travelling through the US will now be able to carry medical cannabis such as CBD oil with them after the USA Transport Security Administration (TSA) introduced new rules.

However, there are strict rules about the type of cannabis you can take and how it's transported.

The TSA has updated the "What Can I Bring" section of its website to reflect news of an FDA-approved epilepsy medication containing CBD oil.

CBD oil is often used as medication for epilepsy, especially for young children.

One father recently explained how the drug stopped his daughter from having up to 100 fits a day.

A spokesperson told Fox News: "TSA was made aware of an FDA-approved drug that contains CBD oil for children who experience seizures from paediatric epilepsy.

"To avoid confusion as to whether families can travel with this drug, TSA immediately updated TSA.gov once we became aware of the issue."
