Some people are keen to use any extra cash they’ve saved from this year to put towards a truly epic trip in 2021.

There are so many one-in-a-lifetime experiences to choose from, from safaris to treks – but there’s a new one which should be on any adventurer’s radar.

A brilliant new tour lets people swim with wild humpback whales in Iceland.

Luxury holiday firm Black Tomato has just announced a new trip which invites guests to swim with the enormous mammals as they migrate from the Caribbean to the Nordic country.

If that wasn’t enough of a selling point, there’s also the fact that there’s sunlight for almost 24 hours a day during the summer months. So, as the tour name suggests, guests will be able to swim with them ‘beneath the midnight sun.’

During these five-day trips, which will take place between June to early August next year, guests will start in Reykjavik before heading onto Eyjafjörður – one of Iceland’s longest fjords. This is where swimming and snorkelling with the whales will take place.

Other activities on the tour include a jet skiing tour of Ólafsvík, snorkelling off the island of Grímsey, a trip to the GeoSea thermal sea baths, a guided hike to the Lofthellir cave, as well as a stop off at the famous Blue Lagoon Retreat.

It’s worth pointing out that this almighty trip comes with a price tag – $9,998 (around £7,759) per person (excluding flights) to be exact.

In a statement the company said: ‘At Black Tomato, we are always in search of the wondrous, rare moments in travel — the ones that take your breath away — that no one has done before.

‘We put our heads together, researching and designing a once-in-a-lifetime world first: snorkeling and swimming with humpback whales under the midnight sun in Iceland.’

Other trips on offer from Black Tomato include a romantic couples safari in Botswana and Zambia, as well as a culinary discovery tour of Portugal.
