TUI scraps holidays until July and cruises until August due to coronavirus – but it could be a lot longer – The Sun

TUI has extended their holiday cancellations until June 30, with Marella Cruises also on hold until July 30.
Their new TUI River Cruise, due to launch earlier this year, will now start in November.

The UK's biggest travel firm first paused all hotel stays and package holidays in March, stating they would be no longer available until "further notice".
While TUI has currently cancelled their trips until these specific dates, there is a strong chance that they will have to scrap further holidays as the coronavirus outbreak continues to spread.
A statement on the website explains: "Due to the ongoing situation regarding COVID-19, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office have advised against all but essential travel.
"If your holiday falls into one of the below categories, we’re really sorry to say that it has been cancelled.
"TUI holidays travelling on or before 30 June 2020, TUI River Cruises sailings travelling up until and including 25 November 2020 [and] Marella Cruises sailings on or before 30 July 2020."
A spokesperson for the company previously added: "We are constantly monitoring the situation and will start taking people on holiday again as soon as we are able to do so.
"At this point in time, nobody can accurately predict when that will be, so for the time being we will keep a close eye on our programme and continue to amend and adapt timings in line with the latest global travel advice."
If you have a TUI holiday booked, you will be given a credit note for the full cost of your trip, as well as an additional 20 per cent if you booked a package deal.
They explained: "We understand that you may not be ready to book again just yet, so the refund credit gives you the flexibility to book your travel in future.
"Plus, if your original booking was for a package holiday, you’ll get a separate booking incentive up to 20 per cent. For example, if you paid £2,000 for your holiday booking you now have £2,400 to spend."
Hundreds of thousands of TUI customers can now apply for cash refunds for cancelled holidays.
The airline apologised to customers for not processing refunds quick enough after it was forced to cancel 900,000 holidays due to coronavirus.
They have since created a page on its website for customers who have cancelled holidays booked to claim a cash refund automatically.
The tour operator has revealed a 10-point guidance plan for when Brits return to the resorts for the holiday season.
Buffets are to be "reduced to a minimum" while staff will have to wear masks as they serve meals at a reduced capacity
