The beautifully intimate animal ‘portraits’ in which the creatures look like they are posing for the camera

  • The photos are by wildlife photographer Pedro Jarque Krebs and feature in his new book, Fragile
  • The photographer hopes his snaps will raise awareness of the ‘precarious situation’ of the natural world
  • He manipulates the lighting and background when editing so it looks as though animals have been in a studio

They say you should never work with animals.

But one photographer has ignored this advice – and a good thing too. Because he’s snapped a series of incredible images of a range of creatures.

Multi-award-winning wildlife Peruvian photographer Pedro Jarque Krebs captured them at various places around the world.

During the editing process, the snapper manipulates the lighting and the background to make it appear as if the animals have had their very own studio photoshoot, with some of them seemingly ‘performing’ for the camera.

The images feature in his new book, called Fragile, which aims to draw attention to the ‘precarious situation’ of the natural world. Pedro says: ‘My goal with these images is to raise our awareness of the beauty and diversity of the natural world, but – even more importantly—its dreadful fragility and endangerment.’
