Bar keeping ourselves fed and hydrated, all we can really think about is getaway breaks and when we can next sit on a plane.

Until the time comes, however, you can start putting a mental mood board together of some dream hotels.

And if you need help with that activity, look no further than the top 25 hottest new hotels on the planet list.

Ranked by the 2021 Travellers’ Choice Awards, the list was compiled with the help of an algorithm that analysed non-large chain hotels that opened July 1, 2019 or later, and received a high number of positive reviews and ratings.

Included on the list are two UK hotels ideal for staycations, but most are exotic destinations ideal for holiday dreaming.

Below is the complete list.

1. Arinna Cappadocia, Goreme, Turkey

Taking the top spot is this cave hotel located in Goreme, Turkey. With 10 rooms in total, previous travellers have called it ‘an amazing place.’

The website reads: ‘Some of the rooms are real cave rooms and some of the rooms are local stone rooms with a view of Goreme town and its balloons.’

2. Armenaki Santorini, Greece

Santorini is one of the most picturesque destinations on the planet and the Armenaki Santorini hotel will give you one of the best views. With clean and simple rooms, this is a hotel to truly relax in.

3. Anttunina Pousada Spa, Maragogo, Brazil

Guests can stay in bungalows with a heated swimming pool and whirlpool at the Anttunina Pousada Spa in Brazil.

‘Located on the most beautiful beach’, according to Tripadvisor, previous guests have described the destination as ‘perfect.’

4. Peridot Grand Hotel & Spa, Hanoi, Vietnam

An oasis of tranquility in the hustle and bustle of Hanoi Old Quarter, the Peridot Grand Hotel & Spa includes a rooftop bar and pool.

5. Hotel Bidaia, San Sebastian, Spain

Located in San Sebastian, Hotel Bidaia was designed in 1912 by the architect Lucas Alday. Each room is unique and built with wood and stone. Guests have described it as ‘cosy and beautiful.’

6. Oludeniz Blu Luxury Unique Hotel, Oludeniz, Turkey

Expect superior service from this hotel that aims to please guests and ‘exceed their expectations every single day.’

One previous Tripadvisor review said: ‘This is a hotel with its own soul.’

7. Emeline, Charleston, South Carolina

A retreat crafted for the ‘curious traveller’ the Emeline hotel is situated amongst the cobblestone streets in Charleston’s historic district.

Expect a unique stay with classic and contemporary touches.

8. Mandarin Eastville Hotel, Pattaya, Thailand

This hotel is luxury in the city. The rooms are a mix of Asian zen and western influences, while the hotel provides two restaurants and lounges that include Italian cuisine and local Thai delights. A true top pick.

9. Ace Hotel Kyoto, Kyoto, Japan

Designed by Commune Design and the legendary architect Kengo Kuma, Ace Hotel Kyoto could just as well double as an art gallery. Tripadvisor described it as ‘a part new build and part historic structure that was once home to a beloved landmark telephone company.’

10. The Rockaway Hotel, Rockaway Park, New York

Modern with a boho feel, The Rockaway Hotel is an urban beach getaway with a view of New York city. With curated art installations and cultural activations, expect a one of a kind experience.

11. The Old Foundry Hotel, Cape Town, South Africa

A boutique hotel with elements dating back to 1876, The Old Foundry Hotel in Cape Town has been described by travellers as ‘the best place in CT for remote workers and business travelers.’

12. Grand Cosmopolitan Hotel, Dubai, United Arab Emirates
