BRITS have been warned against swimming at more than 70 beaches across the UK.

Heavy rainfall has led to sewage discharge into a number of beaches, with Surfers Against Sewage issuing a warning to avoid the water.

Using an interactive map to show the affected spots, it warns: "Storm sewage has been discharged from a sewer overflow in this location within the past 48 hours."

More than 70 beaches across the UK have been affected.

This includes Gorleston Beach, which was recently named the best beach in the country.

Popular beaches affected include Brighton, Blackpool, Whitby and Whitstable.
