The best holiday for you based on your star sign

Granted, it appears it may be some time before worldwide travel opens up to us fully. But that doesn’t stop us from dreaming, right?

Travel wishlists are a must for these coming months, helping us fulfil wanderlust even if we can’t be in our dream destination for real.

With that in mind, Beaches.co.uk  has teamed up with UK astrologer Francesca Oddie to provide a travel guide that suits you based on your star sign.

She has all sorts of tips, from the best holiday type for you to the cocktails you should try when you’re there.

Let the stars be your guide.

Aries, Mar 21 – Apr 19

Francesca says that the best type of holiday for Aries is ‘an adventure vacation with lots of action.’

As the first sign of the zodiac, they value their independence and think of themselves as pioneers, diving in head-first to experiences.

‘Aries wants to be where the action is, they want to find the coolest new destination, the best bar and discover new trends ahead of time,’ says Francesca.

Aries should enjoy a bloody Mary on their holiday, bring a hat (as Aries is ruled by the head, and their perfect travel buddy is a Sagittarius.

Taurus, Apr 20 – May 20

‘Taurus is ruled by Venus, the sign of luxury,’ says Francesca.

‘When a Taurus goes on vacation they are going for a rest, to be pampered and leave feeling relaxed. The best holiday for these folks involves soft sand, soft beds, delicious food, massages and lots of naps.’

For this, it’s recommended anything luxe is perfect, so pick your favourite resort somewhere boujie like Turks and Caicos.

The best activity for a Taurus on holiday is a massage, and you should bring your Pisces pals with you, who’ll be more than happy to get chilling.

Gemini, May 21 – Jun 21

Chatty and sociably Gemini like nothing more than getting stuck into everything on holiday – from food to culture to relaxation.

Francesca says: ‘Geminis are interested in everything, they want to see the city, hit the museums, join the tour guide, learn some facts and then spend the afternoon regaling the facts they learnt that morning. 

‘A city with a beach is a great shout for a Gemini because they get the buzzing nightlife but also some down time to hoover up information and read.’

Try a metropolitan seaside city like Barcelona for your next holiday Gemini, and don’t forget your essential items; books, pens, paper, and your phone for podcasts.

Cancer, Jun 22 – Jul 22

Astrological homebodies – or at the very least the mum or dad of every friend group – Cancer needs comfort and security as part of their holiday,

Franscesca recommends a Caribbean family villa for a Cancer, adding: ‘Failing that, staying in a family run complex, or a hotel that has “that family feel” and when you stay at that place the brand garners “a sense of belonging”.’

Caring Cancer should also ensure their bags are packed with wet wipes, puzzle books, a money belt, and sweets for the plane. This way they can be on hand for anything.

Leo, Jul 23- Aug 22

Leos are here for the high life,’ says Francesca.

‘Their ultimate vacation destination has to be the latest hotspot in town. They want fun, parties and all the glamour. Whoever goes on vacation with a Leo is in for a treat.’

She says that there’s no one spot for a Leo to head on their jollies, just as long they can ‘strut their stuff and show off’.

A glamorous city break like Paris or Milan would make an ideal stage for Leo,  and their cocktail of choice should be the golden Super Snazzy – just like them.

Virgo, Aug 23 – Sep 22

Highly-strung Virgo need a holiday from their holiday, with the tendency to worry about things constantly.

Francesca says: Find them at a health retreat, perhaps even a yoga retreat where their mind that constantly shifts for information has a chance to breathe, slow down and recalibrate.’

They’ll need to be somewhere clean – as notorious organisers – and somewhere they can really switch off.

Their perfect travel buddy is similarly-cautious Cancer.

Libra, Sep 23 – Oct 23

‘Libra is the archetypal cultured individual who has read up, packed well and intends on calmly soaking up their well planned vacation, taking fantastic photos along the way,’ says Francesca.

She adds: ‘Excellent service is very important to the Libra. Flowers in the room, little details. A place of art and culture; a culture-filled city break.’

Activities like painting and live music will delight a Libra, so a bustling city like Rome could be the one. Their holiday drink is champagne, so perhaps the bubbly’s birthplace may also be an option.

Scorpio, Oct 24 – Nov 21

Scorpios love both action and adventure and being alone for a chill.

Francesca says: ‘Exploring a mysterious castle, caves or ancient building in the area.

‘Scorpios love surfing. Perhaps because they are a water sign and they are also a “fixed” sign, so that feeling of controlling the wave, or working with the power of nature could be quite Scorpio.’

With caves galore and surfing hotspots, it stands to reason that somewhere like Croatia could be the perfect Scorpio getaway.

Sagittarius, Nov 22 – Dec 21

Francesca says: ‘The big vision of Sagittarius is to change the world, to preach what they have learned, to share their intelligence and enthusiasm for life.

‘A Sagittarius holiday is as authentic as they come; total immersion into another culture, staying with local families and thoroughly learning about other people is their vibe.’

Anywhere rich with wonder is perfect for a Sagittarius, so consider Angkor Wat, the pyramids of Egypt, or Machu Picchu.

Their perfect travel pal is a Gemini, who’s just as enthusiastic about immersing themselves.

Capricorn, Dec 22 – Jan 19

Capricorn aren’t that fond of relaxing even on holiday, so in love with productivity and ambition as they are.

Francesca recommends: ‘Anything super active with an adrenaline rush – Capricorns love that kick! A skiing vacation is perfect.’

The status aspect of skiing will appeal to them, too, so somewhere like Whistler or Chamonix will be a winner with them – especially if you get them a mulled wine after their time on the slopes.

Aquarius, Jan 20 – Feb 18

‘A road trip is the ultimate Aquarius holiday,’ says Francesca.

‘Where are they going? Nobody knows! But they will make friends on the way with people from all walks of life.

‘Aquarius wants the stories, memories, learning, connection and exploration, where they go needs to be flexible and welcoming.’

It’s most important for an Aquarius to feel like they’re not ‘basic’, so anywhere popular won’t be a big hit with them. Somewhere off the beaten track – or even just pointing at a map and heading there – are much more suited.

Pisces, Feb 19 – Mar 20

Pisces are notoriously dreamy, so as Francesca says: ‘They blend in everywhere they go and will be happy snoozing on a beach, painting in a country meadow, learning traditional dance, meditating in India or attending to those in need as part of some charity work.’

Somewhere somewhat structured can be useful for the easily sidetracked water sign. They should also bring a snorkel, as they love a swim, and seeing all the depths of the ocean.
