Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opens at Walt Disney World after months of anticipation

08/28/2019

Star Wars fans, prepare to journey to a galaxy far, far away!

More specifically, Orlando, where Walt Disney World Resort has opened its brand new Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge in Disney's Hollywood Studios.

The highly-anticipated offering brings takes fans to Planet Batuu where smugglers, the Resistance and First Order co-exist – and you get to be part of the adventure.

That's because Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, is a fully immersive experience where guests can interact with characters (keep an eye out for Stormtroopers), and even use the Play Disney Parks App to hack panels and play with droids.

Of course going straight to the top of the list is the chance to pilot the Millennium Falcon in a brand new interactive attraction where players can take on the role of pilot, engineer or gunner.

(The land is set to welcome a second attraction, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, on the 5th December).

Meanwhile, budding Jedis can build their very own lightsaber at Savi's Workshop – there are over 120,000 possible combinations – or find the droid they're looking for at the Droid Depot where you can build yourself a new robotic friend.

Other highlights include Oga's Cantina where you can hang out, listen to some galactic hits courtesy of the droid DJ, and sip on themed cocktails.

As for the food, you won't be going hungry on Batuu.

Top of the list is the famous Blue Milk which Luke Skywalker drinks, while those after a quick snack can tuck into colourful popcorn courtesy of Kat Saka's Kettle.

Those looking to bring back some souvenirs may also want to head to the Marketplace where you'll find everything from plush Porgs to themed clothing and handcrafted toys.
