Premier Inn unveils plans for new ‘super-sized’ hotel set to open in 2020

Premier Inn has announced that it will be opening five new hotels in Scotland in 2020 in a £70million+ investment which will also include a new 'super-sized' hotel.

The latter will boast 249 beds and will be located in Glasgow's Enoch Square, although currently there is no confirmed opening date.

Another highlight in the new additions will also be a 136-bed hotel in Edinburgh, right on the city's world-famous Princes Street. (If you've never been to the Scottish capital, check out our Edinburgh city guide for top tips on the best things to see).

Other properties will include a 60-bed hotel in Aviemore, right by Cairngorms National Park, and an 85-bed hotel in Thurso, the most northerly of Premier Inn's UK hotels to date.

Meanwhile, as well as the super-sized Enoch Square hotel, Glasgow will become home to another Premier Inn offering with a new 96-bed Glasgow Hamilton hotel.

The brand estimates that the new openings will create approximately 200 jobs to boost local economy.

Premier Inn Managing Director Simon Ewins said: "We’re gearing up for an exciting year in Scotland with a variety of new hotels ranging from a 249-bed mega-hotel in one of Glasgow’s most iconic central locations to our most Northerly site in the UK in Thurso.

"From its world-class cities to jaw-dropping Highlands, Scotland’s tourist offer is hard-to-beat and we’re pleased to help make it even easier for both leisure and business travellers to enjoy the country affordably."

But the expansions don't just stop at the new hotels.

The budget hotel chain also plans to add more rooms to hotels including its Edinburgh East, Fort William and Inverness West hotels, not to mention it previously unveiled plans to open hotels in the likes of Jersey and Shetland.
