KIDS are being invited to design the new Legoland theme park attraction by creating their own monsters out of bricks.

The winning monsters will then be built at the park, so they can see their creations in full size.

The lucky winner will not only see their monster as a 6ft Lego model in the new Lego Mythica attraction, but will also get a free Legoland annual pass for up to five family members.

As well as being invited to place the final brick on the creation, a free overnight stay and Lego goody bag are part of the prize too.

To enter, kids need to design their creature, then bring it to life either through bricks or through drawing it, and submit it on the Legoland website.

The park also states: "Don’t forget to tell us its story! We want to know everything, from how it walks to whether it has any special powers!"

The competition has been launched ahead of the new opening in spring 2021, the biggest investment for the Windsor theme park since it opened 25 years ago.

According to the park, the new land will be a "mythical portal to another world".

Thomas Jellum, Divisional Director at the LEGOLAND Windsor Resort, said:“What better way to celebrate our 25th birthday than by unveiling a completely unique experience like nothing else we have launched at the Resort since we opened.

"At the heart of LEGO MYTHICA: World of Mythical Creatures will be epic rides, including a UK first, and breath-taking mythical creatures designed to capture children’s imaginations and inspire them to build and play.

Our new land has been two years in the making and co-created with families to make sure it delivers what children and their parents want from a theme park in 2021. We can’t wait to share more details soon.”

Legoland has been forced to close after Windsor was placed into tier 4, affecting all bookings up to January 7.

They said in a statement: "Following the news that Windsor will move into tier four, the LEGOLAND Windsor Resort will close from the end of today (Saturday December 19).

"Please do not travel to the Resort."
