The world is filled with weird and wonderful museums , but one that's all about the humble instant noodle was always bound to catch our attention.

Head to Osaka in Japan and you'll find the Cup Noodles museum, where everything is about the iconic instant meal.

One of the top highlights is a huge tunnel covered in 800 Cup Noodles packages, where you can wander through and learn all about the product from the moment it was invented over half a century ago, to the noodles of today.

(Unsurprisingly, the colourful tunnel is also a hit with the Instagram crowd).

But that's not all that's on offer for those who make the journey.

We're talking a whole host of different activities including workshops where you can create your own personalised flavour, exhibits depicting the history of the instant meal and even quizzes where you can test your knowledge of the snack.

There's even a recreation of the work shed where Chicken Ramen, the world's first instant noodles, were invented.

If you prefer, head to the interactive theatre where on-screen performances showcase the moments which inspired the noodles' invention and the manufacturing process.

Oh, and of course there is a café where you can tuck into a wide array of different flavours (think tasting menus sure to be a hit with foodies).

Want to take a memento home? There's heaps of instant noodles-inspired merchandise to be found in the gift shop.

While you'd be forgiven for thinking this is a one-of-a-kind museum, you'd be mistaken.

That's because there's actually a nearly identical museum over in Yokohama, which also features display walls, workshops and exhibits.

Who knew there was so much to discover about instant noodles?

If you are planning a trip to Osaka or Yokohama and are tempted to go and explore the museums for yourself, you can find more details on the Cup Noodles museum website .
