Google’s 2019 Year in Search reveal Venice, Krakow and Berlin are the most popular city break destinations for Brits – The Sun

SPAIN might be the best country for holidays but it's Venice, Krakow and Berlin that top the list for the most popular city break destination for Brits.

That's according to Google, who have just announced the results for their 2019 Year in Search.

All of the destinations in Google's UK top trending city breaks list are in Europe.

In number one is Venice, which was ravaged by floods just last month.

Coming in second was Krakow, one of the cheapest cities for a holiday, while in number three was Berlin, which celebrated the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin wall.

Also in the list is Dublin in fourth place, Amsterdam in fifth and Paris in sixth.

Spain has two cities in the top ten – Barcelona in seventh and Madrid in tenth.

And London and Prague are eighth and nineth respectively.

The search giant also named the top ten destinations for flights searches, which saw Madrid and Azerbaijan's capital, Baku, crowned one and two respectively.

This is thanks in part to the football finals being hosted in the two cities.

Madrid hosted the Champions League final, which saw Tottenham go head to head with Liverpool in the Spanish capital.

Flights to the capital soared to over £1,000 due to the popularity of the game, with many fans left disappointed.

Baku had a similar story – it hosted the Europa League final between Arsenal and Chelsea.

Also on the top ten list for flights was San Sebastian at number three, and Tenerife in number four.

Orlando came in at number five, no doubt thanks to the number of families heading there for Disney and Universal Orlando.

In number six was Azerbaijan, while seventh was Gambia.

Rounding off the list was Delhi in eighth position, Austria in ninth and Venice in tenth.
