Goodnight, Hard Rock: Las Vegas hotel and casino will close 8 months for renovation

08/18/2019

Heads up, Las Vegas travelers: Sin City’s Hard Rock Hotel and Casino will close for eight months starting in February 2020 for renovations, according to multiple reports.

The hotel had previously announced plans to close for four months of a longer renovation period to be remodeled and rebranded as a Virgin Hotel, after it was purchased last year. But KTNV and the Las Vegas Review-Journal now report the renovation process will shut down for the entire renovation.

“We determined that a phased closing of four months, followed by a total closure of four months was not efficient from a construction process nor could we provide a hospitality service experience our guests deserve,” JC Hospitality President and CEO Richard Bosworth told both outlets in a statement.

“Therefore an approximate eight-month closure would be most efficient and ensure a timely opening prior to January 2021,” he added.

USA TODAY has reached out to Hard Rock and Virgin Hotel for comment.

The Review-Journal reports that Hard Rock Hotel and Casino will close after the Super Bowl on Feb. 2 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.

Before closing, Hard Rock guests can see live performances by Brian Wilson and The Zombies, Cake & Ben Folds, Greta Van Fleet, Daughtry, Stone Temple Pilots and comedian Demetri Martin.
