Full list of Covid restrictions and travel rules for holiday hotspots including Spain, Greece and France

02/11/2022

TRAVEL restrictions are easing across the world and holiday bookings are surging as eager Brits head abroad.

The requirement for Brits to take Covid tests upon arrival back in the UK was scrapped this morning, making travel even easier.

However, rules are changing regularly, so it's important you stay up-to-date with the restrictions and regulations for the country you're planning on visiting.

We've rounded up the Covid rules for some popular holiday destinations, including Spain, Greece and France.

SPAIN

Spain is a very popular choice with Brits heading abroad, with sun, sea and sand just a short flight away.

Vaccinated Brits can enter Spain without needing to test or quarantine.

However, Spain has put an expiration date on vaccine certificates, meaning only Brits who were vaccinated against Covid within the last 270 days can enter.

All adults who received their second dose more than nine months ago, which is before mid-May, 2021, must have had a booster jab to be allowed in.

The booster must have been given more than 14 days before travelling.

In a last-minute change for families, Spain will ditch its rule requiring kids to be vaccinated to be allowed in.

From February 14, unvaccinated kids aged between 12 and 17 will no longer need to have both jabs to enter the country.

Face masks are compulsory in enclosed public spaces and at some large outdoor events.

GREECE

Brits heading to Greece need to fill in a Passenger Locator Form before arriving.

To enter, you must show that you are either fully vaccinated or that you have recovered from Covid.

Vaccinated travellers must have received their second dose within the last nine months.

If your second dose was more than 270 days ago, you must have had a booster jab otherwise you'll be considered unvaccinated.

Greece recently scrapped its requirement for Brits to present a negative Covid test on arrival, meaning Brits don't need to take a single test to go on holiday to Greece.

Face masks are mandatory in all indoor and outdoor public spaces in Greece.

In some areas, including supermarkets, pharmacies and on public transport, two masks are required.

FRANCE

France is changing its Covid restrictions regularly, with further announcements expected within the next week.

To enter, Brits must show proof of a negative PCR or antigen test result taken within 48 hours before travelling.

You must also provide a completed sworn statement confirming you're not suffering from Covid symptoms.

Currently, all French people and tourists aged 16 and over need to use a vaccine pass to enter places such as restaurants and bars.

To get the pass, people must show they are fully vaccinated – but there is a time limit on it, so anyone who received their second dose more than seven months ago needs to have had the booster jab.

However, from February 15, that seven-month expiration date is being reduced to just four months.

That means Brits who had their second vaccine before mid-October and haven't had their booster jab won't be able to get a Covid pass.

Thankfully the restriction might only be short-lived, as France has announced it could scrap the need for a Covid vaccine pass from next month.

France has also announced plans to scrap the requirement for vaccinated travellers to show evidence of a negative Covid test upon arrival, however, a date has not yet been confirmed.

Face masks are mandatory in all enclosed public spaces and on public transport.

ITALY

To enter Italy, Brits must be vaccinated, and show evidence of a negative PCR test taken within 48 hours or negative antigen test taken within 24 hours of entering the country.

Unvaccinated Brits must isolate for five days upon arrival.

Like in Spain, vaccinated Brits must have had their jabs within 270 days of arriving in Italy, or had a booster jab since.

Brits also need to use a Green Pass to enter Italy, and the NHS app is accepted.

Face masks are mandatory indoors, but not outdoors.

TURKEY

Vaccinated Brits can enter Turkey without needing to take any Covid tests or quarantine, just with evidence of vaccination.

Unvaccinated Brits need to show proof of a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours of entry, a rapid antigen test taken within 48 hours of entry, or proof or a recent recovery from Covid within the last six months.

Everyone must wear face masks at all times outside of their accommodation, including all parks, markets, the beach, shops and restaurants.

PORTUGAL

Vaccinated Brits can enter Portugal without needing to take a Covid test.

Like Spain and Italy, Brits must have received their vaccine within the 270 days before arrival, or had the booster jab since.

This applies to anyone aged 12 and over, meaning teenagers also need to have both jabs to be able to skip the tests.

Anyone who isn't fully vaccinated will still need to have negative Covid tests to enter the country.

Face masks are mandatory in enclosed public spaces and outdoors where social distancing cannot be maintained.

We've rounded up the 33 countries Brits can travel to without needing a single Covid test – and the 33 countries Brits are still banned from due to Covid restrictions.
