Extreme Minimalist: This man is considered a full-time traveler and hasn’t had a home in 20 years

08/22/2019

Welcome to Extreme Minimalists, which shares the stories of individuals who live on less. Check back every week for a new episode, from a family of four living in a van to a woman who lives with absolutely zero furniture!

The most difficult question Scott Eddy is ever asked is “where do you live?” In fact, he hasn’t had a home in two decades.

With no homes and no possessions, Eddy considers himself a full-time traveler and visits 25 countries a year. His journey began after he resigned from his job as a stockbroker at 29 and flew to Bangkok, where he fell in love with the culture and with travel. “My whole life shifted,” Eddy explained to AOL Lifestyle.

Speaking of this photo, I have a thing about ‘smiling’, or in this case, laughing lol. If there’s one thing I can’t stand about the whole fashion industry is, they feel its better to give that straight-face look (or blue steel) than to smile and look happy…..COME ON, if you’re happy, then show it!!!!!Double fisting again this morning, but this time with the best truffle hunters at @ProdanTartufi, in Croatia. They are brothers, and their breed is mix of terriers. Their names are coming after the latin names for truffle types:.•Mel: named after Tuber melanosporum•Pico: named after Tuber magnatum pico?? ? ?..Photo by @mgtenazasI was double-fisting today at @SawgrassRecreationPark. How cool are these baby alligators? ? ?..Photo by @Ceebz_GerardI found out this morning that I could never be a fashion blogger, basically because they all try to be supermodels and never smile. I was sitting in the middle of the Natchez Trace Parkway Bridge during the sunrise, and couldn’t keep a straight face ??…Photo by @LivingExposureI made friends with this giraffe today at @LionCountrySafari, but I think he only loved me for my lettuce… ?..Photo by @TIFFANY.ALIAThere are only about 20,000 Southern White Rhinos that exist in the world, and here at @LionCountrySafari they have one of the largest herds, they have 12. Today I was fortunate enough to go out and feed them, they are truly gentle giants. ?..Photo by @TIFFANY.ALIAThis morning we went out to Red Rock Canyon about an hour before the sunrise, and it was so magical, so worth waking up at 3:45am. You must be willing to do the things today others don’t do in order to have the things tomorrow others won’t have……and the result, a perfect shot with my drone, and of course with my boy @Ceebz_Gerard behind the camera!!!…Red Rock Canyon was designated as Nevada’s first National Conservation Area, and is located 17 miles west of the Las Vegas Strip.I love when I’m filming in gorgeous locations, this morning I was working with @DNC_Media on a video, but the weather and scenery could not have been more lovely. We were on the 24th floor of the @ConradFTLBeach in the penthouse, overlooking the ocean, just after the sunrise.Yesterday I was hiking on lava, this lava was called pahoe-hoe lava rock, it was about 3000 years old. When the lava first forms and it cools down, they form what’s called cooling cracks. Sometimes the cracks are tiny, and sometimes they’re very wide, like this one in the photo. ??..Photo by @OMARSHINEZ ? .. #Sponsored by @CelebrityCruisesThe gondola lift in Quito running from the edge of the city centre up the east side of Pichincha Volcano to lookout Cruz Loma. 20 years later, Eddy embarks on 35 trips a year, most of which are sponsored and shared with his 260,000 Instagram followers. Whether it be feeding orphaned elephants in Kenya or roaming the streets of Tokyo, Eddy’s adventures are sure to inspire wanderlust across all lengths of the globe.

“I definitely consider myself a minimalist,” he told AOL Lifestyle. “I literally own nothing.”

Everything Eddy owns fits into one suitcase, and though it’s not a lot, he tries to prepare for the unexpected. “People don’t really associate minimalism to high-end experiences,” he explained. “I would say I’m a minimalist that does a lot of nice things.”

For more on Eddy’s unconventional life, watch the video above.
