Disney Imagineer reveals how guests can see the secret underground tunnels used by cast members

A DISNEY staff member has revealed how guests can see the secret hidden tunnels which are only used by cast members.

Gabriella Sorrento worked as a Disney Imagineer, who come up with the ideas behind all of the rides and attractions, for eight years.

There are miles of tunnels underneath the parks and these are used for
employees and cast members to walk through to reach their destinations
without characters being spotted in the wrong land.

These tunnels also contain the costume departments and a resident hairdresser.

However, she revealed that they aren't actually underground at all.

She told Insider: "They aren't technically tunnels because they're not actually located underground. They form the ground floor of the property, and the actual park is on the second floor.

"The utilidors have multiple purposes, including covertly moving around park employees, characters, waste, food, and merchandise. They're also used for emergency purposes."

Despite being one of the best kept secrets of the park, she said guests are able to see them for themselves.

She continued: "Visitors can even get a behind-the-scenes look at the utilidor system if they sign up for Disney's Keys to the Kingdom tour."

The five-hour tour costs $99, she said, but also reveals some of the other secrets of the park, of which there are many.

Other secrets include the "staff cats" which kill rodents at night and why the bins are always painted green.

A former Disney employee spilled the park's secrets, including why Animal Kingdom's restrooms are the only ones with doors.

There are also three things which Disney workers are not allowed to say, which is "I don't know".

Guests who misbehave or break the rules at the park could even find themselves thrown in the 'Disney jail' – with celebrities also locked up including Blake Lively and Robert Downey Jr.
