SMOKERS and vapers must be careful when travelling and follow the airline's policy regarding cigarettes and ecigs.

Can you take ecigs in your hand luggage?

Before travelling, it'd be wise to check each airline's restrictions when it comes to ecigs.

The majority of airlines do allow you to have your ecig in a carry-on- however, passengers could be banned from flying if they vape onboard.

The use of vapes while flying is strictly prohibited in most airlines.

Easyjet allows you to carry e-cigarettes and a maximum of two spare batteries in your cabin bag.

Ryanair has similar rules and both airlines have a strict non-smoking policy.

The same goes for British Airlines and Jet2.

Regardless of the airline, you are travelling with, you need to ensure you have followed the safety requirements for batteries and liquids.

Cigarettes are generally allowed in your hand luggage, provided of course you are not going to smoke onboard.

Most airlines do allow only one lighter that must be kept on you at all times during the flight.

Lighters will need to be placed in a plastic bag for screening before passengers board the flight.

Matches and lighters are not allowed in hand or checked-in baggage.

Travellers who return to the UK must be aware they can only bring a specific amount of cigarettes without having to pay tax.

If they go over their allowance they will have to declare the goods and pay tax and duty.
