Going booze free for Dry January has plenty of benefits – but there's one unexpected perk for Brits who take part in the event.

New research has revealed that couples could actually be saving up to £176 by cutting out pints of beer and glasses of wine.

Which, according to On the Beach, is just enough money to bag yourself a holiday to the likes of Tenerife or Ibiza.

In fact, the holiday bookings platform found that you could bag four nights in Tenerife from £168pp, on a self-catering stay at the 4* Grand Muthu Golf Plaza Hotel and Spa in April. Basically, the perfect excuse to explore Tenerife's beaches and some of the island's best things to see and do.

Alternatively, from £176pp you could bag seven nights in Ibiza including both your flights and a stay at the 3* S'Estanyol Hotel in May.

A spokesperson for On the Beach said: "Now the longest month of the year is finally over we can wave goodbye, at long last, to Dry January.

"It's amazing how much you can save in the month when not drinking and there is nowhere better to celebrate those savings than on the beach.

"We offer holidaymakers a huge variety of beach-based destinations and it’s amazing to see how far Dry January savings can get you. Who’d have thought forgoing a pint or two could get you to Ibiza?"
