Are Disney World and Disneyland open? Latest travel update on theme parks amid coronavirus outbreak – The Sun

CORONAVIRUS cases have hit 95,00 globally, and killed 3,200, leading to flight restrictions, event cancellations and the closure of attractions and large gatherings.

Theme parks have also been affected – here is the latest advice on Disneyland and Disney World.

Three of the Disney theme parks have closed – Shanghai Disney, Hong Kong Disneyland, and Tokyo Disneyland.

Many of the parks are not expected to open again any time soon, with no date for the two parks in China while a preliminary date of March 16 for Japan.

Here is what you need to know about the rest of the theme parks.

Disney World, Florida

Disney World Orlando is remaining open as four cases of coronavirus are reported in Florida.

However, the theme park is reassuring guests that they are staying updated with the latest advice and are increasing their health and safety measures.



A Disney spokesperson advised: "We have very stringent sanitation procedures in place at Walt Disney World Resort.

"We are in close contact with health agencies for information and guidance, and at this time, we are continuing to communicate to our Cast the importance of preventative measures such as frequent hand-washing and rigorous cleaning processes.

"For guest convenience, we have placed additional hand sanitisers throughout our parks and resorts and will adjust our protocols as the situation warrants."

It is advised to keep up to date with the latest advice as it is likely to change at short notice.

Disneyland California

Disneyland California is also open, despite California declaring a state of emergency due to coronavirus.

There are currently more than 50 cases of coronavirus in the state with the first death reported earlier today.

The previous statement remains the same for Disneyland California also.

Disneyland Paris

France has banned large gatherings of over 5,000 as nearly 300 cases of coronavirus have been reported.

However, Disneyland Paris remains open.

A spokesperson said: "Disneyland Paris is open and welcomes visitors as usual.

"We’re following the development of the situation in close collaboration with health authorities, whose recommendations we follow.

"Disneyland Paris applies exemplary sanitation procedures, as well as high hygiene and cleanliness standards."

Holidaymakers are advised to check with their travel insurance providers if they want to cancel their holiday but are unlikely to be covered if there are no travel warnings.
