You’ve been playing UNO wrong all this time as biggest mistakes confirmed

With Christmas right around the corner, many of are spending quality time with our family by bringing out fun and games.

UNO is the addictive card game of matching colours and numbers – for a lot of us, once you pick it up it's really difficult to put it down.

Players take turns racing to get rid of all their cards by matching a card in their hand with the card shown on top of the deck.

Most people are aware of the rules, but there's something many of us have not been doing right since Merle Robbins invented it way back in 1971.

As everyone knows, when you place your final card, you're supposed to scream 'UNO' as loud as you can.

But actually, that is a total myth.

It is not just someone coming forward out of the blue with a claim to rock us all.

UNO have cleared it up on social media after one of its players posed the question to settle a row with his family.

Asking on Twitter, the man posted: "Do you have to say Uno out when you play your last card in @realUNOgame??? Heated debate right now with the fam."

He put up a poll and 55,000 votes later, nearly 62% said yes – of course you do.

But then the company itself got involved and frankly we're a little shaken.

The official UNO account wrote: "While calling 'UNO Out' when you play your last card is a popular House Rule, it's not required."

That wasn't all – they caused a similar stir when it revealed that you can't stack +2 cards on top of each other.

As expected, there were some fine reactions.

One put: "We keep telling Uno that they make the cards but not the rules."

Another joked: "When y'all gonna realise that nobody asked for your opinion??"
