Woman shows off game-changing hack to make poached eggs using nothing but water

A woman has revealed a cooking hack she became "obsessed" with after she learned how to make poached eggs perfectly every single time.

Forget about the vortex swirl or the water-to-vinegar ratio, jewellery designer Dana Rebecca Gordon showed what her mum learned on TikTok.

In the clip, Dana's mum stood behind the counter top and said: "I recently learned how to poach an egg, and I thank whoever it was on TikTok.

"Break an egg into a small Pyrex bowl, add a little bit of water — just enough to cover the yolk — and put it in the microwave."

She set the timer to 44 seconds and while waiting, Dana asked her: "Is this a trial and error on the time?"

Her mum said she read it online it should be between 36 and 45 seconds.

When the microwave beeped, she carefully took the bowl out.

"Out comes the perfect poached egg," she said while fishing the poached egg with a fork — the thick, slightly hardening crust on the white and a runny yolk.

Without using any saucepan or pots, Dana and her mum were content with the result.

Viewers flocked to the comments to share what they have learned after the video.

One said: "I followed this hack last week. Egg exploded and my microwave was a mess."

"Tried to put mine on 44 seconds but still raw egg, so decided to go for 1.5min, damn I almost had heart attack with the blow up in my microwave," a second commented.

A third seemed to have struck luck, adding: "Perfect. No more dirty pan for one egg."

Others said they prefer a simply sunny side up or a solid boiled egg than the "fancy" poached egg.

If you are making a Sunday roast dinner, you can give this potato peel hack a go.

TikToker Jennifer said the swivel-style peeler works faster than the Y-shaped version.

"It is that not only you can go down but forward when you're peeling so that you can peel the entire thing super fast without having to actually lift up the peeler off of the vegetable," she explained.
