Test Cricket: Australia vs New Zealand

Seven, 3pm

The world did not end when Nine lost the broadcast rights to Australia's test cricket summer, and nor has Seven's coverage been a radical departure from a very familiar formula. But change has been welcome, at least in terms of on-air personnel, and as the brief and just concluded series with Pakistan demonstrated, it's refreshing hearing the likes of Tim Lane – forever economical but insightful – alongside the squad of 40 something former test stars that are rotating through the Seven commentary box. The first test against an ascendant New Zealand should be a test of both Australia's team and the commentators – if things go pear-shaped for the hosts some unsparing analysis might be required.
