As WandaVision‘s premiere date fastly approaches, fans tare very excited first Marvel series that will be on Disney+. Several journalists were able to give social media reactions Saturday afternoon as the show begins to ramp up its press. According to these early reactions, the show seems like it will be a winner.

Everything we know about ‘WandaVision’ ahead of its release

Wandavision stars Elizabeth Olson and Paul Bettany as the titular Wanda Maximoff and Vision, as well as Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau, Randall Park as Jimmy Woo, and Kathryn Hahn as Agnes.

Per to the official logline provided by Marvel and Disney+, “the series is a blend of classic television and the Marvel Cinematic Universe in which Wanda Maximoff and Vision—two super-powered beings living idealized suburban lives—begin to suspect that everything is not as it seems.”

The early looks from the series, including first-look images and the initial trailers, gave off a sitcom vibe, utilizing aspects from the ’50s. ’60s, ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, it was revealed that crew members did specific things to make it feel like the show was set in the different time periods, including wearing clothing from these times. The special effects team used wires and camera tricks similar to those used in shows like Bewitched. It was even filmed in front of a live studio audience to give it the utmost of a sitcom feel, with those who attended the tapings having to sign very strict non-disclosure agreements.

Kevin Feige, the head of Marvel Studios, says the direction of the show was influenced by old sitcoms, many that he grew up with. “I would get ready for the day and watch some old sitcom because I couldn’t take the news anymore,” he said. “Getting ready to go to set over the last few years, I kept thinking of how influential these programs were on our society and on myself, and how certainly I was using it as an escape from reality where things could be tied up in a nice bow in 30 minutes.”

First reactions to ‘WandaVision’

With the social embargo now up, several television journalists and critics gave their thoughts about the series on Twitter. All of the reactions are seeming to be overwhelmingly positive.

“#Wandavision is out of this world & absolutely delightful. It has high aspirations as blends TV nostalgia into the MCU but does it effortlessly,” wrote Sharronda Williams of Pay or Wait. ‘Bettany & Olsen are fantastic & truly embody the perfect tv couple. The comedy, mystery, & sharp dialogue will keep you wanting more.

A lot of reactions made sure to not how Wandavision is a fresh superhero story that isn’t like what viewers have seen before.

“I’ve seen the first three episodes of #WandaVision and man is it my jam,” said Erik Goldman of Fandom. “If you fret that all superhero stories can feel the same, here is big proof otherwise. I found it delightfully trippy and intriguing. I love what I’ve seen so far and can’t wait to see the entire season.”

“I got to see the first three episodes of #WandaVision and it was everything I hoped it would be: funny, clever, creepy, and above all, sort of tragic,” said Nerdist’s Hector Navarro. “The reality is: WandaVision is taking the Marvel Cinematic Universe places it has never gone before, and there’s no going back.
