It has been announced the Victoria Derbyshire Show will stop airing later this year to help save £80million in BBC News.

BBC News first announced they would need to make £80million of cuts over four years in 2016.

BBC reported Fran Unsworth, BBC head of news, said it had “not been an easy decision”.

She explained Victoria will “continue to lead on some of the high-profile audience events and original stories she has championed so effectively in recent years”.

She added: “However, audience behaviours are changing. Linear television viewing is declining, and as we progress with our £80million savings target, it is no longer cost-effective to continue producing the programme on television.”

Victoria shared her response to the news in a series of posts on Twitter.
