Most of us have grown up using the more conventional ways of managing our monthly cycle: pads and tampons. It’s been calculated that 70% of women use tampons while others use pads. More recently others use newer innovations such as a menstrual cup.

If, like me, you’ve had years of suffering from the ever so uncomfortable UTI’s, your menstrual cycle could be to blame. Not only do tampons have a high risk of developing toxic shock syndrome, a potentially life-threatening condition, they also can irritate and dry out your vagina which can cause infections, particularly if you leave them in too long or over night.

And of course with pads, I'm yet to find a brand which is strong enough to not shift out of place and cause stains on my clothes. There’s little to no risk of toxic shock syndrome, but they’re sometimes made up of environmentally harmful pollutant fabrics.

If you’re so over using tampons and pads like me, then listen up! We’ve found a great alternative which is far comfier and safer and you’ll never look back.

WUKA is a period pant brand which looks and feels like regular underwear but soaks up all your period blood meaning you can say goodbye to ever wearing a pad or tampon again. And the best part, they won’t leak through to your clothes.

The period pant brand has a great selection of pants for you to choose from, you can shop by flow; light flow, medium flow or heavy flow (choose one of each if you have irregular periods). You can also browse by style; high waist, midi brief, bikini brief. No-one would ever know they were period pants.

All the pants are environmentally friendly and are even packaged in plant friendly starch bags. Designed to last up to two years, when you feel your pants have completed their course, drop them off at your local clothing recycling center.
