These high street fashion buys look way more expensive than their price tag

Whilst many people associate looking high-end with purchasing designer clothes, a little tip we’ve learnt over the years: if you’re smart when shopping on the high street, anything can look expensive – it’s all about opting for timeless, quality staples that stand the test of time.

If you’re looking to luxe-up your wardrobe this season, we suggest taking style inspiration from the French – and no, not the outfits donned in Emily in Paris. We’re talking super-chic footwear, timeless tailoring and neutral pieces that give your wardrobe that je nais se quois.

Another way to get the designer look is to consider what fabrics you’re wearing. Although cashmere and silk might be out of budget, satin, plissé and soft knitwear are all great swaps to help you look like you’ve splashed the cash. Ruffles and embroidered styles work too.

For accessories, cat-eye sunglasses instantly add value to any outfit – the more oversized the better – which also leads us to bags. This summer, we’re swooning over the larger than life straw styles that are dominating our Instagram.
