'The View': Meghan McCain Is Pregnant, Is She Leaving the Show?

03/22/2020

Meghan McCain from The View has confirmed she’s pregnant. The conservative co-host made the announcement to all of her fans on social media. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, she consulted with her doctor about how to go about it during these harsh times. McCain said she would now be broadcasting from her home to avoid contact with other people and assure the health of herself and her baby.

“My husband Ben and I have been blessed to find out I’m pregnant,” she wrote in a letter posted on Twitter. “Although this isn’t how I expected to announce my pregnancy, both we and our families are excited to share the news with you all.”

McCain is taking precautionary efforts in limiting the number of people she interacts with, per her doctor’s recommendations.

“I consulted with my doctors and they advised me that for the safety of our baby and myself, I should be extra vigilant about limiting the amount of people we come in contact with,” she added. “Starting immediately, I’ll be joining the millions of Americans who are self-isolating as a precaution to prevent the spread of COVID-19. As a result, I will be appearing on The View from home via satellite.”

The Republican pundit also thanked the TV network for allowing her to work remotely.

“I’m fortunate that my employer, ABC, has allowed me and my co-hosts to work remotely,” McCain continued. “I am indebted to our producers and crew. I also want to acknowledge the heroes — the doctors, nurses, grocery and pharmacy workers, journalists, police officers, firemen, and military — who are on the front lines of this fight. Please stay safe. Wash your hands and avoid public gatherings and I will continue to see you each morning on The View.”

Other ‘The View’ co-hosts out

The morning show made changes following the health crisis. Joy Behar was the first to isolate and stayed home after her daughter advised her not to go to work.

“I’m in a higher risk group because of my age, but I’m perfectly healthy,” the 77-year-old co-host said on her last day. “I don’t look my age, but I’m actually up there. The number makes me dizzy.”

Whoopi Goldberg has been moderating the talk show from her home this week also and explained her reasons why.

“This is what we call responsible social distancing,” Goldberg said in a live feed from her home in New Jersey. “So I went to the doctor yesterday to check myself out just to make sure and he gives me the all-clear to go to work. I’m getting ready to do it and then I start hearing these inconsistent messages from everyone.”

“I just felt like if I was going to really try to figure out whether it was OK to come in … until they can get themselves together, the governor and the mayor, I should not go in. That’s why I’m still here. I am healthy. My doctor was very annoyed with me. He’s like, ‘I just gave you the OK, why are you back?’ I said, ‘because I need the OK-OK.’ So he gave me the OK-OK,” she added.

Sunny Hostin is the only regular co-host still left on the panel. Former co-host Sara Haines had been subbing in on the set.

The View airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET and 10 a.m. CT/PT.
