The Farmers’ Almanac is predicting a miserable winter 2020

Soak up the last days of summer because an arctic hell is predicted for this winter.

Most of the country will be blasted this year with a “polar coaster” of free-falling, frigid temperatures and gusty winds, the Farmers’ Almanac is predicting.

“Our extended forecast is calling for yet another freezing, frigid, and frosty winter for two-thirds of the country,” editor Peter Geiger said in a release.

Geiger said the upcoming season will be a “wild ride” involving extreme temperature swings and “some hefty snowfalls.”

The northeast will experience a harsh combination of “colder-than-normal” temperatures and high rates of precipitation, which will lead to “not only a good amount of snow, but also a wintry mix of rain [and] sleet,” according to the publication.

“The Northeast, including the densely populated corridor running from Washington to Boston, will experience colder-than-normal temperatures for much of the upcoming winter,” the forecast said. “Only the western third of the country will see near-normal winter temperatures, which means fewer shivers for them. ”

The most bitter-cold outbreaks are predicted for late January when the Northern Plains might see temperatures dropping into negative 40 degrees Fahrenheit.

And there won’t be relief for months as spring is expected to get a late start.

“Occasional wet snow and unseasonably chilly conditions will hang on for a ride that you may not be able to get off until April!” the forecast said.
