The Crown Just Recreated One of Princess Diana's Most Underrated Looks

When we think of Princess Diana's most iconic looks, a few moments come to mind: her sweater-and-bike-shorts combo, her Halloween ball gowns, and, of course, the revenge dress. But The Crown just recreated one of the late princess's most underrated looks — the white gown she wore in New York City in the late '80s.

In new photos released Monday morning from the set of The Crown in the U.K., actress Emma Corrin, who is playing Princess Diana in the series, could be seen wearing an uncanny recreation of the Victor Edelstein gown the Princess of Wales wore to the Brooklyn Academy of Music in 1989.

In February 1989, a then-27-year-old Princess Diana made her first official visit to New York City, where she attended a $1,000-per-ticket charity gala in her honor, followed by a performance of Falstaff by the Welsh National Opera.

"Between acts of the opera, the guests in the two-tiered royal box played musical chairs," a New York Times report at the time read. "Five took turns sitting next to the Princess while nine others rotated around the box."

The Crown's fourth season is expected to delve into the relationship between Prince Charles and Princess Diana — and it looks like Prince William (and most likely Prince Harry) will be a part of it.
