Packed full of active ingredients, serums are one of the best products in many skin care lines, but they’re expensive. This means some people are wary of using them, but they’re an important part of the battle against ageing.

A serum is a skin care product that you apply to your skin after cleansing but before moisturising, with the intent to deliver a potent shot of ingredients directly into your skin.

Given their strength and the fact they are made up of very small molecules, they can be quite costly, but because a tiny bit goes a long way, it is definitely worth incorporating serum into your skincare.

If your complexion is literally getting under your skin this product will certainly work its magic and, if nothing else, the serum is infused with crystals – from moonstone to rose quartz – said to bring positive energy and healing powers!

We absolutely love the fact the cream has a slight shimmer to it, unlike the other serums here that tend to be clear. You only need to use just two drops via the pipette to cover the face and as soon as it touches the skin, it feels instantly hydrating. 

The serum features plenty of big hitters like vitamin C and niacinamide (which work to brighten and even skin tone), alongside lesser known ingredients such as polyglutamic acid, an ingredient that the brand claims is four times more hydrating than hyaluronic acid, and replexium, a peptide blend that targets wrinkles and promotes younger-looking skin.

The overall result is a radiant glow – no wonder this serum has magic in its name.

With serums being one of the most costly skincare products, finding a good one at a reasonable price is not so easy.

Kiehl’s is a brand with a long-term reputation for reliable products. And while retinol is often seen as a potent ingredient in skincare products, this serum has made our list because the product is so gentle it can be used even on the most sensitive of skins. The words retinol and gentle very rarely go hand in hand, but this works a treat.

You also wouldn’t expect something so powerful to glide onto the skin so easily, but this does. And thanks to key ingredients including peptides and ceramides that help promote a stronger skin barrier function to aid the skin’s tolerance of retinol, you are instantly protected from any of the redness or soreness that can often occur if overused. 

This is best for nightly use so it really gets into the skin, and because retinol can make you more susceptible to the sun’s UV rays, it does warn to avoid sun exposure on its packaging.

Pietro Simone Dewy Reboot
