Strictly Christmas Special 2022: Who are the stars competing and when is it on?
12/01/2022TheStrictly Come Dancing finalmay be fast approaching, but viewers won’t have long to wait until they can see a whole new host of celebrities take to the dancefloor as the festive special is set to air on Christmas Day.
With Christmas less than a month away, BBC have started unveiling its star studded line-up for its Christmas special episode, which will see familiar faces show off their footwork in front of judges Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Anton Du Beke and Shirley Ballas.
However, unlike the main show, it is the voting studio audience who will determine who should be crowned the Strictly winner – not the viewers at home.
So, with that in mind, let’s take a peek at this year’s Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special stars…
Alexandra Mardell
Coronation Street fans will know Alexandra Mardell for playing Emma Brooker on the cobbles. For the upcoming special, the 29 year old will be paired withKai Widdrington,who was the first professional to be eliminated in this year’s main show.
Speaking of the opportunity, the soap star said: “I’ve grown up with Strictly Come Dancing. My mum always said she’d love to see me on the show so this really is the best Christmas present I could give her.
“I can’t wait to get into the training room and see what festive moves I can bring to the table!”
Rickie Haywood-Williams
Having previously presented the Kiss FM breakfast show for 10 years, Rickie Haywood-Williams now presents the Live Lounge show on Radio 1 alongside Melvin Odoom and Charlie Hedges.
Elsewhere, Rickie is known for presenting the Footballers’ Football podcast and has worked for the likes of MTV, BBC Three and Sky One in the past.
Addressing his appearance on the Strictly Christmas special, the 42 year old said: “I have watched Strictly over the years and always said I’d be too scared to do it. But here I am ready to go for it, sequins n’ all.”
For the show, the radio DJ will be paired with Luba Mushtuk.
Rosie Ramsey
As the first contestant to be announced as joining the show, Rosie Ramsey will be looking to beat husband Chris’ performance after he made it all the way to the semi-final back in 2019.
Known for hosting the Sh**ged. Married. Annoyed as well as The Chris and Rosie Ramsey Show with her comedian husband, Rosie will be paired with Neil Jones.
“I am thrilled to be dancing in this year’s Strictly Christmas special! After watching my husband Chris compete a few years ago, I’ve been desperate to get on that dance floor myself!,” 35 year old Rosie said when announcing the news.
“I also absolutely LOVE Christmas, and my partner Neil is lovely, so this is just perfect. Best. Christmas. Ever!”
